Indications:

Contraindications:

fever, various allergic and pustular inflammation of the

skin, violation of the integrity of the skin, malignant tumors.

Equipment:

folded in 8 layers of gauze or soft cloth (at home), bandage,

waxed or compressing paper or polyethylene oilcloth, cotton wool, tray with

boiled water (to enhance the action add 5–35% alcohol solution), towel.

THEME 5:

PERSONAL HYGIENE OF THE PATIENT AND HIS POSI-

TION IN THE BED

Purpose:

to know the rules of bedside nursing and to be able to implement it in

practice

As a result of studying the topic, the student must know:

1. Rules of care of oral cavity, ears, eyes, nose.

2. Skin care. Bedsores.

3. Washing, wiping the skin with one of the disinfectant solutions.

4. The position of the patient in bed. Functional bed.

5. Bed linen. Preparation of the bed. Change of underwear and bed linen in

severe patients.

6. The putting a rubber round, vessel, urinal.

the student must be able to do:

1. To change the bed linen in three ways, to prepare the bed for the patient.

2. To change the patient’s underwear

3. To demonstrate washing, care of ears, hair, mouth, eyes of recumbent

patients.

4. To use a functional bed (to show the possible positions of the patient –

Sims, Fowler).

5. To provide skin care: wipe the skin with one of the disinfectant solutions.

To carry out prevention and treatment of bedsores.

6. To submit bedpan, urinal, hold (explain) their disinfection.

7. To demonstrate the patient’s shifting.
