Nose care
If the patient has nasal discharges, care should be taken.
Equipment:
sterile cotton turundas (wicks), pasteurized plant oil, vaselin oil
or glycerin in a small container – 50 ml, 2 tray, tweezers, rubber gloves. During
care of the nasal cavity do not use sharp objects to avoid injuring the mucosa.
The sequence of actions when removing mucus and crusts from the nasal
cavity
1. Explain to the patient the course of the procedure. Make sure that he
understands, get his consent for the procedure.
2. Remove the patient in high Fowler’s position.
3. Wash your hands with hot running water and soap, put on gloves, if
necessary – safety glasses.
4. Put it in the tray 3–4 cotton turundas.
5. Take 1 turunda in the right hand, dip the end to the prepared oil and lightly
press to the edge of the bottle with oil.
6. With your left hand slightly lift the tip of the nose, and with your right
hand, gently, with rotational movements, insert the turunda into the lower nasal
passage not to the end, make blotting movements on the corresponding half of
the nose, pressing its edges. Leave turunda for 1–3 minutes.
7. Carefully remove turundas with rotational movements.
8. Repeat the procedure on the other side.
9. The crusts will soak and move away themselves.
10. Put used turundas it in the tray “dirty tampons.”
11. Mucus, pus and other liquid excretions can be removed with a pear-
shaped rubber balloon.
12. Take off your gloves, wash your hands.
Hair care
Every day the patient needs to brush his hair. Use the individual hairbrush
for this. The comb, moistened with a solution of vinegar, fine comb dandruff
and dust. Hairbrush should be kept clean, wiped with 70% alcohol, vinegar
and to be washed in hot water with baking soda or ammonia. The patient needs
to wash hair once a week using shampoo and toilet soap. Seriously ill people
should be washed their heads in bed. For this, put the basin at the head end
of the bed, and the patient throws his head so that it was over the basin. It is
necessary to soap head skin well, then the hair, rinse them with warm water, dry
and comb. After washing tie a towel or a kerchief on the head.
