11. Disconnect the needle from the syringe by holding the needle over
the cannula. Dispose of the removed needle to the unbreakable class B waste
container. Hold the syringe for the cylinder by one hand.
12. Take the package with an additional needle with cannula up by the
second hand. Hold the syringe with the fingers of the first hand and open the
package of the needle (from the cannula side).
13. Hold the needle with the second hand through the package. By the first arm
attach the syringe to the needle cannula. Remove the package from the needle.
Dispose of the needle package in a fixed bag for disposal of class Awaste.
14. Put the collected syringe on the same place in the tray. The cap was not
removed from the needle, the needle touched only the inner surfaces of the
package and the tray.

Making injection
(algorithms are given below).
IV.
The end of the procedure
1. Dispose of the syringe with the needle in an impenetrable container with
class B waste, without disconnecting, without putting the cap on the needle.
2. Hand over the tray for disinfection and subsequent sterilization.
3. Remove the fixed packages for the disposal of class A and B waste.
5. Remove gloves without touching the outer surface of the gloves by hands.
Dispose of gloves in a fixed bag for class B waste.
6. Treat hands in a hygienic way, to drain.
7. Make a mark in the medical records of the manipulation.
8. Obligatory ask the patient about his condition and reaction to the injected
medication in 15 min. after injection (identification of complications and
allergic-cal reactions).
Subcutaneous administration of drugs and solutions
Subcutaneously administered drugs, that should be slowly and gradually
absorbed into the blood. An example of subcutaneous injection is the introduction
of insulin and heparin. The drug is administered under the epidermis and skin,
directly into the subcutaneous fat. Locations for subcutaneous injection: upper
outer shoulder surface, the outer and front surface of the hip in the upper and
middle thirds, subscapular region, anterior abdominal wall.
Algorithm of subcutaneous administration of drugs:
1. Select, inspect and palpate the region of the proposed injection to identify
contraindications to avoid possible complications.
