4. Release the air from the syringe without removing the cap from the needle.

5. Dispose of the cap in a class B waste container.

6. Take the syringe in the right hand, place it perpendicular to the patient

body surface. Take the syringe in the right hand «as a pen», the second finger is

on the needle cannula, the first and third on

the cannula rim of the cylinder.

7. Pull the patient’s skin tight at the injec-

tion place with the thumb and index finger

of one hand (in the child and the old person

grab the muscle), that will increase muscle

mass and facilitate needle insertion.

Another method of fixing the syringe in

the dominant hand is also allowed, as

shown in figure 21.

8. Insert the needle into the muscle at a

90° angle for 2/3 the length of the needle (Fig.22).

9. Pull the piston on yourself with your left hand, make sure there is no

blood in the syringe (always with the introduction of oil solutions).

10. Slowly enter the drug.

11. Remove the needle, press the ball with antiseptic solution to the injection

place, without taking your hands with the ball, gently massage the place

of injection of the drug.
