PREFACE
According to the Federal state educational standard, during the training of a
specialist it is necessary to provide the relationship of academic knowledge and
practical skills. To ensure this relationship is able the practice in General care of
the patient therapeutic and surgical profile, which is the first stage of familiarity
with the activities of students in the clinic. As a preparation for practice, students
study the subject «Theoretical base of care for therapeutic patients».
As a result of practical training, students must master the skills to care for
patients due to their age, nature and severity of the disease, including those who
are seriously ill and agonizing.
The success of treatment and prognosis of the disease is largely determined
by the quality of patient care. It should be noted that the doctor should know
the General care of patients much wider than the nursing staff to help the
nurse to master these or other manipulations, to check the correctness of their
performance, to eliminate possible errors.
As a result of studying the subject and practical training,
the student must know:
• personal hygiene of medical personnel and personal hygiene of the patient;
• types of transportation of the patient to the ward;
• basic principles of thermometry; types of thermometers;
• functional duties of the nurse, Junior medical staff;
• the mechanism of action, preparation of the patient, indications and contrain-
dications, methods of setting of warming compresses, heater, ice-bag;
• types of hydrotherapeutic procedures, preparation of therapeutic baths, lo-
cal baths (manual, foot, sedentary);
• methods of administration of drugs, possible complications in this case;
• methods of subcutaneous, intramuscular injections;
• gastric lavage technique, indications and contraindications;
• method of urinary bladder catheterization, indications and contraindica-
tions, preparation of the patient for the procedure;
• method of giving of enemas (cleansing, siphon, etc.), indications and con-
traindications, preparation of the patient for the procedure;
• the main symptoms of respiratory diseases, peculiarities the care of pa-
tients with respiratory diseases;
• the main symptoms of circulatory diseases, peculiarities the care of pa-
tients with circulatory disorders;
