The sequence of actions in patient preparation for fluoroscopy.

If the bowel function of the patient is normal, special preparation for the

study of the stomach and duodenum is not required.

1. In tendency to flatulence special diet is assigned for 2–3 days, chamomile

tincture, in constipation – 30 grams of castor oil.

On the evening before investigation no later than at 19 hours patient

has a light dinner, at the day of study doesn’t eat, drink, smoke, doesn’t take

medication and physiotherapy.

Irrigoscopy

 – it is X‑ray examination of colon.

The aim of investigation is diagnostic of diseases of colon (colitis, anomalies

of colon development, polyps).

This study is carried out in several stages and requires preparing.

The sequence of actions in patient preparation for irrigoscopy.

1. Within 3 days use a special diet, excluding rye bread, milk, potatoes,

cabbage, turnip, beans, apples, persimmon, grapes. Assign easily digestible

food: porridge, jelly, omelets, soups, boiled meat and fish.

2. Two days before the study the patient increased fluid intake, in flatulence

tincture of chamomile, activated carbon are administrated (2 tablets 3 times

a day).

3. On the eve of the study, dinner is canceled. In the evening make

1–2 cleansing enema.

4. In the morning on the day of the study a light breakfast is possible.

5. 2 hours before the study the patient is put 1–2 cleansing enemas.

6. In the x‑ray room is overview image has be done.

7. The patient is installed barium suspension into the colon and made a

review of the bowel. It is performed under the supervision of a physician with

the sighting shots of the bends of the colon.

8. The overview X‑ray is repeated after a bowel movement.

9. The patient is given air into the large intestine and the third

observation image is taken.

Ultrasound examination of the digestive system

It opens wide prospects for early and timely diagnosis of various pathological

conditions of the liver, gallbladder and pancreas.
