52 Faculty of Paediatrics was opened in 1975. The Faculty of Dentistry was established in 1980. There are two more faculties: the Faculty of Advanced Studies for Doctors (founded in 1991) and the Faculty of Pre-academic Training for applicants (founded in 1992). The staff, which includes about 400 members, works at 52 departments. About 80 Doctors of Medical Sciences and 250 Candidates of Medical Sciences work at academy. A faculty is headed by a dean, and the academy − by the rector. About 2,000 students study at Izhevsk State Medical Academy. There are two halls of residence for students who come from different parts of Russia. Accommodation is quite cheap but not very comfortable that is why some students prefer renting a flat to living in hall. The academy has a library which is rich in medical textbooks, books and journals in Russian and foreign languages. During the first three years students study preclinical subjects and in their senior years they master clinical subjects and undergo practical training at teaching hospitals of Izhevsk. 3.
