The main purpose of the organization of the «nursing process» is to guarantee a person decent, high-quality care and medical aid . Stages of the nursing process The first stage of the nursing process ( nursing examination of the patient ) is the current process of collecting and processing data about the patient’s health status. The goal of the stage is to collect, justify and link the received information about the patient in order to create an information database about him, about his condition at the time of seeking help. This stage includes collecting a database of the patient’s condition using a survey on the development of the disease, on the so- cial, spiritual, cultural and psychological status, physical examination and results of laboratory and instrumental research methods. The nursing examination is independent and cannot be replaced by a doctor examination, since they have different tasks. The doctor conducts an examination, makes a medical diagnosis, and identifies the causes of disorders of organs and systems functions for further treatment. The task of a nurse is to identify the vio- lated needs of the patient and provide, accordingly, motivated individual care. When collecting data, the nurse must see not only the biological system, but also the individual with the totality of its social relations, psychological and physiologi- cal responses, thus, to see the inner, spiritual world of a person. Sources of information about the patient can be: • patient; • members of his family and relatives; • surrounding people (for example: neighbors, witnesses on the street); • members of the medical care team, medical staff; • inspection data; • the results of laboratory and diagnostic tests; • medical literature. In the course of collecting information, the nurse must obtain the following in- formation: • about the physical condition of the patient; • about the emotional state; • about intellectual abilities; • about social status; • about his life «credo» (spiritual needs, religious beliefs). The purpose of collecting information: • establishing a confidential, psychotherapeutic contact with the patient; • careful familiarization of the patient with the course of treatment in this medi- cal institution;
